A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding, and she could find no cure. Coming up behind Jesus, she touched the fringe of his robe. Immediately, the bleeding stopped. “Who touched me?” Jesus asked. But Jesus said, “Someone deliberately touched me, for I felt healing power go out from me.” When the woman realized that she could not stay hidden, she began to tremble and fell to her knees in front of him. The whole crowd heard her explain why she had touched him and that she had been immediately healed. “Daughter,” he said to her, “your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” Luke 8:43-48 (NLT)
What miracle gift are you believing for this Christmas?
The woman in the story had tried everything. She spent all her money on physicians for 12 years to heal her physical ailment. Nothing worked until she forced her way through the crowd to touch the fringe of Jesus’ robe. She was full of faith in Jesus to heal her at that moment … and He did just that. Instantly!
In the realities of life there are many reasons why we struggle with believing in the power of God to do the impossible. We lose family and friends to a terminal illness after praying diligently for their healing. Someone we know has their car struck by a drunk driver. We all can share similar difficult stories.
These are hard truths to live with and, yet Ecclesiastes 1:14 says, “I have seen everything that is done under the sun.” God has seen it all. More importantly, He has dealt with it all and in His sovereignty, power and authority He has healed the sick, the lame and the mentally ill.
The Lord was also there for us when we made the decision to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. God met us where we were, and He will not “leave us or forsake us.”
So, what miracle gift are you believing for this Christmas? What is it that Jesus can do that would be an answer to your impossible dream? Whatever the dream – personal issue, challenge; whoever the person – family, friend, or foe; let this be a time to step out in faith and pray like never before – believing for that miracle gift from God. He is the God of miracles!
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!
