The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people, and your father’s household to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you, I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” So, Abram went, as the LORD had told him; Genesis 12:1-4 (NIV)
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)
Abram had a good life. He had plenty of possessions: a wife, a home, livestock, and servants. When God called him, he went without a clear picture of his future but with a strong trust in the Lord, who had blessed his life up to that point in time.
His step of faith would not save him from hardships on his journey to Canaan. For all his courage, he would lie about his wife because of his fear that Pharoah would take her because of her beauty. How often do we experience that fear is the enemy of faith? Even great people are weakened by its deceiving grip.
But Abram’s faith was stronger than his fear and he continued toward the destiny God had planned for him.
Where will Jesus take us if we follow Him and trust Him with all our hearts?
Prayer:
We stretch out our arms to you, dear God. Our hearts and minds are open to receive whatever You have for us. We need You. There is so much we do not understand about the world and what is going on. Lord, we depend on You to help guide us where You want us to be. We pray to have the patience to wait on You, and not to go our own way. Mold us. Shape us. Make us good servants always ready to help others. We are desperate for You, Jesus. Amen
What are you fasting during these 21 days? Food is delicious, but God is greater, right? Keep going. Trust God and watch Him do amazing things.
