“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”
John 10:27-30 (NIV)
Believers are never alone. In the toughest, darkest, scariest times we need only to call on the name of Jesus and be comforted knowing He is with us. The Comforter (Holy Spirit) lives in each person who has accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Nothing else is required. The gift of eternal life is given by love and grace. Salvation cannot be earned because, “ … all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23 (NKJ). Even so, Jesus is our Redeemer. He goes to the Father on our behalf.
“Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow.” Isaiah 1:18 (NLT)
Jesus wants us to listen and to know His voice. And when He gives us direction, we will choose to follow Him. He is also our Protector. He declares that no one will take us from Him. We hear a lot of opinions in the world and see injustices committed on people by people. But God asks us to live in the security of His promises and to respond to these wrongs in love. That is what the Lord models. We can do this because of the Holy Spirit alive in us.
All who believe can walk each day confident that God is with them in all things, all circumstances, with all people. If someone misunderstands us then we must remember that Jesus was misunderstood. He overcame with patience, mercy, and unconditional love. We must do the same. Can anyone resist being genuinely loved?
Lord, help us today and every day to open our hearts to You in all circumstances and relationships. Sometimes it is hard to know what to say or how to act, but Your wisdom is great for there is nothing new under the sun that You have not seen. We must be humble, loving people even when it is difficult for us. Thank You for Your promise that no one can take us from You. We can move forward assured of Your presence in our lives to help us. Amen.
