Moses named the place Massah (which means “test”) and Meribah (which means “arguing”) because the people of Israel argued with Moses and tested the Lord by saying, “Is the Lord here with us or not?” Exodus 17:7 (NLT)
In this section of scripture, the people God rescued from slavery in Egypt were traveling in the desert and were thirsty. Instead of being patient; instead of being thankful; instead of believing that God was able to provide – they complained which tested the Lord. How quickly all those people had forgotten that in these days before God had done wonderful miracles in their life – parting the Red Sea; providing daily manna and meat; and more. These where no ordinary miracles, these were up there, like an “8” on the miracle scale! God moved with power on their behalf. It was something never done before, but they still said, “Is the Lord with us or not?” just because they were thirsty.
How many times have we complained about something, and how many times have we also tested the Lord out of unbelief? Isn’t it true that God has done a greater miracle for us? It’s a miracle that He is preparing a place for us to be with Him someday!
Jesus Christ is the ultimate miracle that we need to continue to believe in. Jesus Christ is the only miracle we need to totally satisfy our needs. Jesus Christ is the One we need to believe in over people and country. Everything else will pass away. Hold on to Jesus, He will never pass away and we will live with Him.
Church, be patient, be thankful, and keep believing. “The Lord Is here with us!” Is He not?
Continue to be thirsty for the Lord and to seek His will. Keep praying for His will to be done here on earth as it is in heaven.
