“The Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 (NIV)
God spoke directly to Joshua after Moses died. The Lord always knows what we need, and He had to instill confidence and leadership in Joshua so he could take his people to the Promised Land across the Jordan River.
Most of us probably are not faced with as monumental a task as moving an entire nation from one place to another. However, life challenges everyone in some way. Becoming a Christian does not exclude us from a wide range of issues. Sometimes, the crises might be of our own making. We forgot to make an important phone call or snapped at a loved one because we were tired or preoccupied with our own problems.
There are often invasive attacks that careful planning could not have prevented. Illnesses, accidents, relationships, or any number of possibilities.
When we have a time when we are overwhelmed with circumstances and are feeling helpless, we are blessed to know this word from the Lord – that He will be with us wherever we go. Part of Psalm 6 reads, “The Lord watches over the way of the righteous.”
The Great Comforter is always there for us.
Because we know this to be true, we are certain that Jesus will help us to overcome any roadblock that tries to hinder us.
This is the Miracle Month when God became flesh. He came to earth and experienced all that we go through in life. He did this because He loves us. He left the gift of the Holy Spirit so we would never be alone. There are bound to be moments during this season when we will have the opportunity to share the love of Jesus. We do not have to proselytize. Our acts of love are what is important.
Prayer:
Jesus, we love You. We know You love us. We are so thankful to have a personal relationship with You in all of our situations – good times and not-so-good times. Open our eyes this Christmas season to see those people in our community who need our compassion. You gave Your life for us. We want to be the love servants You desire to help relieve those in need. Amen.
