Keeping the Commandments

“If you love me, obey my commandments.” John 14:15 (NLT)

Some thrive on getting awards, medals, trophies, and recognition. Keeping the commandments has nothing to do with that. Keeping the commandments has to do with a conscious, heart attitude toward God. Knowing that He exists.

He is the One who is watching our life. He wants to bless us immediately because we desire to keep His commandments. I want to keep His commandments because God is watching me; God is before me; I want to live for Him.

Jesus is my foundation. Genesis 1:1 says, “He is the Creator of heaven and earth.” That is another reason I want to keep the commandments.

Jesus is challenging us, “IF YOU LOVE ME. “

Love is an action that requires us to show it, say it, and do it. God longs for us to love Him back. His love does not punish us or harm us; it does not play hide and seek. Not at all. His love rewards us, so we should love God, too. We should want to give back to Him by walking in obedience and in love. Then Holy Spirit will help us love others the way we should.

Through His power and ability, we are able to love those who are hard to love. We should not need attention and validation from others to feel good. We already have the attention of the Creator of the universe. He already validates us; He wants us on His team! Keep the commandments because you love God, you love yourself, and you love others.
