Let’s step into the lives of the people in Jeremiah 29… the people were in captivity and the prophet Jeremiah sent them a letter. The letter described what God was telling them while in captivity. Think for a moment … their homes, jobs, schools, bank accounts, retirement nest, and so many other things had ended. This letter was not good news, no! This letter actually told them they would be captive for 70 years.
Our world has been turned upside down for months, now going into a year because of Covid-19. We can complain and dislike what the government is doing, but think for a moment how 70 years sounded to the Israelites. Some never came back, everything they had was gone. Here is the Good News:
In that letter, God said …“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
May our eyes capture the Lord in the midst of these new times no matter what is unfolding before us. He will always have a plan, He will always have a future for His church, His people, and for those who continue to believe.
