No Greater Love than the Love of Jesus

Then they said, “Come, let’s build a great city for ourselves with a tower that reaches into the sky. This will make us famous and keep us from being scattered all over the world.” Genesis 11:4 NLT

The people in the city of Babel (which would later be renamed Babylon) decided to unite and make a tower that was going to make them famous. The story concludes with God coming down from heaven.

“Come, let’s go down and confuse the people with different languages. Then they won’t be able to understand each other.” In that way, the Lord scattered them all over the world, and they stopped building the city.
Genesis 11:7-8 NLT

We, too, can start building our own tower thinking only about ourselves.

It can become a self-centered path. We sometimes do it out of ignorance and not necessarily on purpose, but it does happen. God shows us in the Bible many times what takes place when we do life only for ourselves in a manner that is selfish and ungodly.

There is a false hope that our tower will bring attention, security, and satisfaction, because we care too much about what people think. God allows certain life situations to stop us so we will come back to Him. God desires all of us to invite His plans into ours. God, what life do You want me to live? God, what path do You want me to take? God, what is Your will?

Confusion, separation, and misunderstandings follow those who follow their own ways.

The Lord is here to bring us close and give us all we need for this life and the next. LET’S TRUST HIM. JESUS CHRIST…
God, help us in our journey. Lead us not into temptation. We forgive as you have forgiven us.
