“On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place. Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting.” Acts of the Apostles 2:1-2 (NLT)
Pentecost is a very sacred and special time in the Bible when the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit. Pentecost took place 50 days after Jesus rose from the dead. The story in Acts 2:1-42 tells how the early followers of Christ came together on Pentecost. Pentecost Sunday (May 28) is the celebration of the coming of the Holy Spirit. The word, Pentecost, originates from the Greek word for five, “penta,” meaning “the fiftieth day”…
I like to keep it simple – The day of Pentecost the disciples received the gift of the Holy Spirit. A “Suddenly” took place and the Holy Spirit appeared in power and caused things to happen that had never happened before. People spoke in other languages and became bold to witness about Jesus Christ. My prayer is that every meeting we have we are in expectation of receiving newness and freshness from the Holy Spirit because we are willing and surrendering to His presence.
As we continue to meet, come with expectation and faith to receive miracles, tongues and boldness in order to be a witness to everyone around us. The best thing you can leave with after church is a desire to share Jesus Christ with everyone you encounter. People need the message that God loves them. We show others God’s love by how we love each other.
Pentecost is a renewal of the mission and purpose of our faith and a celebration of hope. Let’s take it to all people.
I am excited for this wonderful season. As we meet inside, keep outside close to your heart, because God’s desire is that we go out to share Him. See you all on Sunday, can’t wait to see what will happen.
