The Truth

“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.” John 14:12

Wow! Can you see the connection? Jesus is one with the Father. He will be with the Father. And for those of us who believe Jesus dwells in us. Therefore, the Father dwells in us as well by the Holy Spirit.

Our God is a living God.

Jesus isn’t talking about raising Lazarus from the dead, turning water into wine or healing the leper. “…even greater works…” refers to the vast spreading of the gospels to all corners of the world; saving the souls of so many. Turning non-believers from Paganism; teaching the love of Christ; helping those in need. Jesus’ ministry was mostly in Palestine, but the apostles would travel as far as Rome to spread the Good News. And, in time, Christianity would make its way around the world.

“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.” Acts 4:13

The great truth is we don’t have to wait until we’re bible scholars or have gone through any rituals before we share our faith. When we see hurt people (physically, emotionally, spiritually) then God calls us to act. Perhaps it is simply praying with the person. Maybe that’s all they need. How many times have you asked a stranger if they want you to pray and they said, “Yes?

Even in our own church family there are many opportunities to pray with someone who has a need. I have a close friend who has decided if someone asks for prayer then pray right then – don’t wait! Let’s all try that this week.

It takes courage to step out and offer help to a stranger. But if we keep in mind the verse from 1 Corinthians 16:14, “Let all that you do be done in love” (ESV), we can be assured that God is with us and will help us to speak the right words or take the best action in those moments.

With Jesus + You, we can be the light in someone’s darkness; the hope that was gone; the healing of the wound; the way to a new life with Christ on the throne. That is a tremendous truth about the power of God with us. We can help people to reset their path in life and move toward the destiny they were created by God to fulfill.

God bless you! See you Sunday at the park at 12noon.
