Good News!

“Now go and call together all the elders of Israel. Tell them, Yahweh, the God of your ancestors—the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—has appeared to me.” He told me, “I have been watching closely, and I see how the Egyptians are treating you.”
Exodus‬ 3:16‬ (NLT)‬‬

Good News is the best news

None of us like bad news. When I heard the news that a friend of mine was moving away to another state, I was sad and happy at the same time. When someone passes, we are usually sad that they are gone. Sometimes, we are happy for them because they are no longer suffering. ‬‬‬‬

Good News is soothing to our soul. It brings comfort and healing. We all like Good News, but the “bad news bears” always show up to the party. They hang out outside and wait to deliver the bad news.

In this section of scripture, God was addressing Good News only. Moses, on the other hand, was receiving it as bad news. Like Moses, we don’t always see the bigger plan when difficulties come our way. Moses didn’t really want to go to the elders or to Egypt. Actually, he didn’t want to do anything but go back to his uninterrupted life!

As the story unfolds, we know Moses went, Moses did, and his life was never the same. The days of comfort were over. God called Him but said something that encourages me: “I have been watching closely.” We too must go and follow the path of our Christ-like forefathers who left everything for the sake of Jesus and People. Let’s leave our uninterrupted lives behind. Whether we get Good News or bad news, God is watching us. He is with us … NOW GO!
