Jesus Wants Us to Help

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)

This is a packed scripture if ever there was one. Jesus defines for us His position – His authority. He commands us to “…go and make disciples…” But, wait a minute, aren’t we disciples? Yes we are! He asks us to share with non-believers about the nature of God and to baptize them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit so they, too, will be disciples.

In other words, the Lord is calling us to get the word out to the world about the Good News of Jesus. Because of His great love for humanity, He wants everyone to know the true way to salvation and reconciliation.

Jesus said, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” 1 John 2:3-6 (ESV). The Lord keeps all His promises to us as His disciples. He commands us to bring His truth and freedom to all people. Jesus wants our help! Those who are obedient to His call to make disciples will be blessed beyond measure.

How exciting to lead someone to Christ who is suffering separation from God and finds no place for comfort – whether it is physical, psychological, emotional, or spiritual. Jesus’ love sustains. It is more than temporary relief. When we opened our hearts to Him, He filled a place in us that nothing else can.

As believers, let’s do this! Let’s be alert to show our love to a lost soul and give them the life-changing gift of Christ.
