When Jesus Found Me and Saved Me

From Luke 3:8-14 NLT
“Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Don’t just say to each other, ‘We’re safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.’ That means nothing, for I tell you, God can create children of Abraham from these very stones. Even now the ax of God’s judgment is poised, ready to sever the roots of the trees. Yes, every tree that does not produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire.” The crowds asked, “What should we do?” John replied, “If you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry.” Even corrupt tax collectors came to be baptized and asked, “Teacher, what should we do?” He replied, “Collect no more taxes than the government requires.” “What should we do?” asked some soldiers. John replied, “Don’t extort money or make false accusations. And be content with your pay.””

In Luke 3:10 the people asked, “What should we do?” You’ll find this same phrase in Acts 2:37, “Brothers, what should we do?”

When Jesus found me and saved me, I was in pursuit of answering this same question – what do I do now?

It was a wonderful spiritual season in my life. I chased after Jesus and found many false teachers and demonic forces trying to convince me not to do anything to change my life or only do little because, they would say, “God doesn’t really want you to change”. I could not help the feelings I had inside my heart that there had to be more. I recall back before I even knew Jesus I was sitting in a confession box inside a Catholic Church and telling the priest, “That’s it?”, when he gave the instructions of repeating a prayer many times to be forgiven.

Yes, church, there is more.

We all have more to do. If He loved you as a sinner, He most definitely loves you as a saint. The “more” is what John and Peter were trying to say to the people. Repent from any sin that you may be involved in physically or mentally that God does not approve of according to the Bible. Don’t ignore your moral compass. Your conscience speaks to you.

What should we do? We should repent, turn to God, and change our ways. We want to honor Him and please Him because we love Him. “Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God.”

We will be talking more about this in church. See you there.

God bless you. Please continue to pray for yourself and others.
Revival is here – let it start with you.
