Who is Listening?

“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.” Acts 16:25 (NIV)

Prayer has many personal aspects as we acknowledge and communicate with our Father.

  • Praising

  • Asking

  • Sharing

  • Seeking

  • Listening

We usually close our eyes when we pray. We might pray on our own or with other people. Hopefully, we do both. We pray with our family, church friends and with others in our community when opportunities present themselves.

In those intense moments when we are fully committed in our prayer and speaking out to God, there are ears on the fringe listening. A great consequence of our prayer time is reaching an unintentional audience who may be impacted by our conversation with Jesus.

At Barranca Vista park on Sundays there are the emerging stories about how our time of worship, prayer and teaching is touching hearts and souls of people who happen to stop and listen and sometimes join us to see what’s going on.

There are some who have come to know Jesus. There is one man who listens to the teaching from his house in the neighborhood. Last weekend some people from New Season Church donated to a fundraiser taking place in the park. God is moving!

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit – fruit that will last – and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.” John 15:16 (NIV)

Jesus hears our prayers. He always takes care of us. Our position is to pray. The bible says to pray without ceasing. Spend some valuable time with the Lord today and watch how He responds.
