You are Forgiven, You are Redeemed

“He will respond to the prayer of the destitute; he will not despise their plea.” Psalm 102:17 (NIV)

We might realize we need to come to the Lord when we’re at our lowest point, but we’re fearful of confessing and exposing our sin. We feel we’re disappointing God with our poor attitude or unrighteous behavior. But God says He “…will not despise their (our) plea.”

King Solomon said in Ecclesiastes 1:9, “…there’s nothing new under the sun.” Jesus witnessed every kind of sin on earth. God the Father in heaven has seen it all before. Greed, envy, pride, gluttony, lust, slothfulness, and wrath. All these sins in whatever form they take across all generations continue to plague us because of our sinful nature.

What is the old saying? “It’s not how you fall but how you get back up.” We’ve learned we can’t do it on our own. Through gritted teeth and our own strength, we hold onto the wheel and guide ourselves down the straight path only to get distracted and make a wrong turn … again!

Who saves us then? Only Jesus! He tells us to come to Him. “I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.” Luke 15:7 (NIV)

God is waiting for us to share our darkness so He can throw His light on it and move forward in the plan He has for us. He loves us unconditionally. He proved that. We don’t deserve it. He is The One. The Source. From Him all goodness and life flows. He is divine and He forgives us.

If we confess and repent, we will be free to take the next steps in our journey with Jesus. We can do it! Thank you, Jesus … with You we can do it!
