Be Anxious for Nothing

Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. Psalm 42: 5 (NIV)

For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help. He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death. He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in his sight. Psalm 72:12-14

What do you do with those times described in Psalm 42:5 when sometimes, for no apparent reason, you feel melancholy and lowly? This mood of dread can come over us at any time. Thank God we have a way out because we know our hope is in Jesus. It is impossible to praise Him and remain in our temporary funk.

Jesus is greater!

Once we accept Christ in our hearts, we are never alone. He has experienced all that the world can throw at us. He understands. He became flesh.

Do you know the Lord hears your prayers? The Holy Spirit gift He has given us lives inside each believer and assures us that we are never on our own trying to figure out solutions or actions to take when difficult situations arise. No one knows our needs as well as God does.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 (NIV)

He feels it when we suffer. He wants us to have a better life. The reality is that life will come at us in negative ways. Our Savior is our Great Defender. Part of Deuteronomy 31:6 says,  … He will never leave you nor forsake you.” He is always with us.

Prayer:
Lord, sometimes we get overwhelmed and forget that You are there to help us when we are weak and vulnerable. We are on our knees in front of You now, recognizing You as our Sovereign Lord. We praise You. As we praise You, Jesus, our hearts, and minds are opening to receive Your guidance. You make us smile. You bring us joy. Please guide us to serve those who have the greatest needs. Amen.
